Ultra II has a minimum read/write speed of 9MB/sec
Extreme III has a minimum read/write speed of 20MB/sec. Extreme IV has a minimum read/write speed of 40MB/sec. However, chances are, your camera can't probably push out data fast enough to see much benefit from an Extreme IV. Another difference is that the Extreme cards come with a copy of Sandisk Rescue Pro which will allow you to restore accidentally deleted pictures. It's not included with the Ultra's. The software will restore from any cards, not just the Extreme III it came with, so you could consider buying an Extreme III to get the software and buy Ultra II's for the rest of your cards. (That is until you upgrade to a camera that can push out data fast enough to benefit from one of the Extreme's.) Personally, I take an 8GB Extreme III, 2 4GB Extreme III, 4 2GB Ultra II, and 4 1GB Ultra II cards with me when I am shooting. All are super reliable. |
