It is a great start. Try getting the pets in focus as well. The wider focal range, the better the photo (not always true, but it is in this case).

This site has a great explanation of depth of field. Look at it and the try taking the picture again.

I love it. I love the feelings it expresses: Companionship, observing, outside but inside, etc...

Actually I don't think depth of field (how much of the image from near to far is in focus) is an issue here. The pets are pretty much silhouetted with the backlighting and I'd like to see you try to shoot this two ways and see which image you prefer. One as a complete silhouette- do this by exposing for the light outside the window- you will have to get out of any auto mode to do this and your manual will be a help here. Then shoot it again, but this time exposing for the pets- the background will be over exposed or overly bright. Pets aren't always cooperative, but try to capture them when they are framed totally by the window or door to avoid the heavy black bar being positioned directly behind them. Have fun- that's what photography is all about.

It's actually pretty good, it looks too pixelated however. Is that a window in the background or a screen? You might need a camera with more mega pixels, try at least a six MP camera, or 8 or 10 or 12 which is better. Compositionally you have a great image. [everyone loves cats] Also it isn't actually terribly stereotypical for the kind of image it is. Black and white give it that "Ahhhhhhh" quality that make people feel kinda mushy, so that's a pretty good image overall, the download looks too pixelated.

Not bad. Not great but better than some others you've posted. Looks more like an accident than a deliberate attempt at feeling but hey if you shoot enough you're bound to get a few good ones

    I love this photo, really ! (:
It has a warm feeling, and a good concept. Everything about it is nice, just a couple hints.
Keep the camera a bit more steady,
    Or increase your shutter speed.
If you're working with a digital camera, mess around with your effects//modes//settings on screen,to give different effects, or tones. It can completely change a photo, and give it a change of mood. [be sure you have the manual, or know how to change it back,so you're not stuck or confused ! that happened to me): ]
