There's a NIKON Coolpix 10mp 5x optical zoom for $199 and a SONY Cyber-Shot w/ Carl Zeiss lens 10mp 5x optical zoom for $279. Is one really $80 better than the other?

The big difference is that the Canon uses a proprietary memory card, the Memory Stick ... you can only use them with other Sony products and the Nikon uses the industry standard SD memory card.
Nikon actually makes better lenses than Carl Zeiss. Nikon makes million dollar lenses used to make the micro chips your computer is using as well as your camera and other electronic devices. |

what might make that $80 difference is the megapixels
the more pixels the better the quality of the pictures taken so i say the one with more megapixels is better |
